Tour To Las Salinas De Manaure

Our thrilling journey kicks off bright and early in the morning from the city of Riohacha, the capital of La Guajira. We will pick you up at your accommodation starting at 07:00 AM.

After a drive of about one hour, we will reach the renowned Salinas de Manaure. Here, a local guide from the community will greet you and accompany you throughout the tour. The Manaure Salt Flats are a natural marvel where salt is traditionally harvested. You will have the chance to explore the salt fields and discover the salt extraction process, from the evaporation of saltwater to its harvest and distribution both nationally and internationally.

During your visit to Manaure, you’ll also have a wonderful opportunity to engage with the local community residing in the area and gain insights into their lifestyle, traditions, and the significance of Artemia salina in their culture. You can ask questions and delve into the rich heritage of the region.

Our journey continues with a 40-minute drive to Mayapo Beach. Along the route, you’ll enjoy the region’s beauty, featuring desert landscapes and breathtaking views.

Around 1 PM, we will arrive at María’s restaurant, run by a motivated and passionate woman who has overcome numerous challenges. She and her family will treat us to a delightful lunch. You’ll savor local cuisine while taking in views of the serene Mayapo beach, where you can unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Following lunch, you will have free time to explore Mayapo Beach. If fortune smiles upon you, you might catch athletes engaging in Kitesurfing, as this beach is famed for its perfect winds for the sport.

Before departing, you will have the chance to visit the local communities belonging to the Epiayú clan. Here, you can learn more about their daily routines, such as fishing, crafting Wayúu artifacts, and goat herding. You will also have the opportunity to purchase authentic crafts.

After a day enriched with unique experiences, at 04:30 PM, we will commence our return journey to Riohacha, where we will drop you off at the original starting point.
