Cabo De La Vela Full Day Tour

Our adventure kicks off bright and early at 05:30 am. We'll pick you up in 4X4 vehicles from your accommodation within Riohacha. Remember to bring a reusable water bottle for refills, sunscreen, and comfortable attire for the journey.

We will depart Riohacha heading towards Las Salinas de Manaure. The journey northwards will take about an hour. Upon arrival, a community guide will welcome you and lead you through the salt extraction ponds. Here, you'll discover the artisanal salt collection process and its significance to the community.

Around 09:00 AM, we will proceed to Uribia, known as the indigenous capital of Colombia. For an hour, you'll immerse yourself in the hospitality of the Wayúu community, learning about their traditions and the central role of family and community. You'll explore the Uribia market, where the vibrant colors of Wayúu crafts and backpacks contrast beautifully with the desert's natural hues, creating a unique visual experience.

By 10:00 AM, we'll reboard the 4X4 and head to Cabo de la Vela. The trip will take roughly 2 hours, offering you a chance to escape the sun's intense rays while enjoying the stunning landscapes of La Guajira along the way.

We begin our exploration of Cabo de la Vela at the Ojo de Agua, a natural lagoon in the midst of the desert. This oasis presents a striking contrast and serenity, where fresh, crystal-clear waters emerge from the arid ground, creating a magical haven of tranquility.

We'll then continue to the Faro, the highest point in Cabo de la Vela. This iconic landmark stands as a silent witness to the ocean's vastness and the sky's immensity, embodying the connection between land and cosmos. The Lighthouse is an architectural marvel that has guided sailors and explorers through the years, offering an atmosphere inviting meditation and relaxation, alongside breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and desert.

At approximately 01 PM, we'll take a break to savor a well-deserved rest and a delicious typical lunch at a local restaurant. Prepared by members of the Wayúu community, you'll not only enjoy the delicious regional cuisine but also gain insights into the local culture.

Post-lunch, we'll embark on a brief 15-minute walk to ascend Pilón de Azúcar. This is a sacred site for the Wayúu community and symbolizes spiritual and ancestral land connection. The hike offers enriching experiences and spectacular views. Reaching the summit of Pilón de Azúcar is a reward in itself, revealing the expansive landscape of Cabo de la Vela with its golden dunes, Caribbean Sea, and vast desert.

Descending from Pilón de Azúcar, you can relax on Playa Dorada and enjoy a refreshing swim in the Caribbean Sea.

Around 03:30 PM, we'll begin our return journey to Riohacha, taking approximately 3 hours. Relax, unwind, and relive the day's memorable moments.

The activity concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation in Riohacha.
