Tour Description
Our full-day adventure kicks off from Riohacha with the pick-up from your accommodation starting at 07 AM. If you're staying in Santa Marta, you can arrange for a hotel pick-up with prior notice.
After a scenic one-hour drive from Riohacha, we'll reach Palomino, where you'll be greeted with a delightful local breakfast, providing the energy needed for the thrilling activities ahead.
< div style="text-align: justify;">The day begins with a hike of about 2 hours through lush tropical landscapes leading to the Servhiaka Educational Center. Here, you'll have the chance to explore the captivating educational model of the Kogui community, one of the most ancient and traditional indigenous cultures in the area, and discover their profound connection with nature. The journey continues into the heart of the village to experience the Kogui Servhiaka community more intimately, as we wade across the Palomino River at its lower tributary. On the opposite bank, community members will share insights about the sacred coca leaf (Ayo); for them, coca serves as a medium for communication with the spirits of nature and a means to connect with the divine.
If the Mamo (spiritual leader) is available, you may participate in a Sierra blessing, a ritual designed to ensure protection and well-being from the Sierra Nevada, fostering a balanced relationship between humans and nature.
Following the encounter with the Kogui community, around 01:00 PM, we will embark on the thrilling tubing excursion down either the Palomino River or the Don Diego River, depending on the river currents. Tubing here is a soothing experience where you can drift along with the river's flow. No previous experience is necessary, as the gentle currents make it suitable for everyone to enjoy. For an hour, you can unwind, soak up the sun, and observe the local flora and fauna as you float.
Upon reaching the shore, you'll head to a nearby restaurant to indulge in a typical Caribbean lunch, savoring fresh and delicious local dishes.
The afternoon is reserved for relaxation at a private section of Palomino beach. You can take this time to rest, sunbathe, swim in the Caribbean Sea, or simply revel in the serene surroundings.
After a day brimming with adventure and culture, we'll return to Riohacha at 05:00 PM. Enjoy the scenic coastal views on your way back while cherishing unforgettable memories of Palomino.
The tour concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation around 06:30 PM.
