Tayronaka Day Trip

Your adventure kicks off at 8:00 AM, departing from Riohacha. As you journey, you'll be treated to the breathtaking views of La Guajira, celebrated for its desert landscapes and rich biodiversity. Along the way, we'll pause for a brief stop in Palomino, a well-loved tourist spot, to capture the stunning beaches and where the Palomino River meets the Caribbean Sea. If you're staying in Palomino, you have the option for pick-up from this location.

By 10:00 AM, we will arrive at Taironaka, where the Community Tourism group will greet you with an informative talk on local ecosystem conservation, home to a fascinating array of fauna, including turtles, alligators, birds, and primates, alongside diverse flora species. We will then embark on a hike to the upper part of the river, offering you the chance to admire the native flora and fauna. This walk provides stunning views of the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the tallest coastal mountain in the world.

At midday, we will explore Taironaka Park with insights from local guides. You'll gain knowledge about the region's ancestral history through visits to archaeological sites and the local museum, showcasing the life and culture of the ancient Tayrona. Following this, we will savor a traditional lunch at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy regional dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. This is the perfect moment to relax and recharge.

By 2:00 PM, we will embark on the thrilling tubing adventure down the Don Diego River to its mouth. During this excursion, you'll enjoy the scenic landscape and observe the diverse flora and fauna along the river. Tubing offers a unique blend of relaxation and adventure as you glide along the gentle river currents. Upon reaching the mouth, you'll have free time to relax, explore, and take photos of the breathtaking convergence of the river and the sea. This spot is perfect for capturing unforgettable moments and enjoying the serene surroundings.

At 4:00 PM, we will set off on the return journey to Riohacha, reflecting on the area's natural and cultural riches. Arrival in Riohacha is anticipated around 6:00 PM, concluding a day filled with unique and unforgettable experiences.
