Tour To Commune 20

The tour is set to start at 9 AM at the designated meeting point.

Our first destination is the MioCable station, a cable car system that will transport us to Comuna 20. The origins of this transportation network are closely linked to the aim of offering development opportunities to a community historically marginalized. Since its launch, the MioCable has stood for more than just transportation; it has become a symbol of progress and empowerment for the residents of the commune and its neighboring areas.

From the cable car, we will enjoy unparalleled panoramic views of the commune and the city, providing an opportunity to admire the urban transformation and the beauty of Cali from above.

Upon reaching the Commune, a brief introduction about the area and its origins will be provided. Comuna 20 encompasses 11 neighborhoods, with the renowned Siloé being a standout, having faced significant challenges, including periods of violence, socioeconomic struggles, and conflicts related to drug trafficking and the presence of illegal armed groups.

Despite the scars left by these difficult times, the people of Siloé have come together through collective effort, social programs, and determination to transform the neighborhood's image and cultivate a safer and more prosperous environment.

We will venture into the heart of Siloé to hear stories from its residents, guided by a local expert. We will visit the "Yo Amo A Siloe" Lookout, an observation point where you can marvel at the commune's most stunning panoramic views. You'll have time to capture selfies with breathtaking cityscapes.

Our journey continues to The Ruins of Silowood, a site that holds tales from the area's industrial history. These ruins, remnants of the film industry, now serve as a historical and cultural symbol illustrating the transformation and identity of Siloé over the years.

We'll pause briefly to enjoy a snack crafted by local businesses, savoring flavors that have thrived in the commune and will tantalize our taste buds. Empanadas and Cholao will be the highlights of this break.

We will conclude the 3 km journey with a visit to La Estrella de Siloé, an iconic structure that embodies the community's hope and resilience. You will discover its significance and value to the residents of Siloé.

We will return to the meeting point after an experience that will have connected you with the community's strength and heart of this Cali community.
