Tour Description
We will begin our journey bright and early at 4:30 am, with pickup from your hotel situated in the central area of Cali. From there, we will travel by private vehicle to the port of Buenaventura, famously known as the gateway to the Colombian Pacific. As we travel, you'll witness a transition of landscapes, from highlands to coastal terrains, setting the stage for the thrilling day ahead.
Upon reaching Buenaventura, we will board a boat that will take us across the Pacific waters to Juanchaco. This charming fishing village will serve as our launch point for whale watching and the start of our coastal explorations. During the boat ride, you'll enjoy sweeping views of the coast and ocean, gearing up for a close encounter with nature at its most majestic.
Upon arrival in Juanchaco, our team of local guides and native whale watching experts will welcome us. We'll venture into the Pacific waters on another specialized boat designed for whale watching, heading towards areas where humpback whales are frequently spotted at this time of year. Our guides will be on hand to point out the whales and ensure a close yet respectful experience with these magnificent marine mammals.
September is notable for the energy of the whales, as at two months old, they are particularly playful and visible during their acrobatic jumps and splashes. Besides humpback whales, you'll also have the chance to see other species such as pelicans, bottlenose and spotted dolphins, tuna, and sea turtles, further enhancing this unique experience in the Colombian Pacific.
Following the thrilling sightings, we will explore the nearby caves and cliffs, conditions permitting, based on the tide and weather. These locations offer breathtaking views of the coastal landscape and are perfect for taking memorable photographs of the region's wild beauty.
We will pause to enjoy a delicious lunch, after which you can relax and soak in the natural surroundings. There will be free time on the charming Juanchaco beach, where you can swim in the clear waters, bask on the sand, or simply unwind amidst the serene and beautiful seascape.
As our day in Juanchaco concludes, we will return by boat to Buenaventura and then travel by private vehicle back to Cali. We are expected to arrive in Cali at approximately 8:30 pm, where you will be dropped off at your hotel with unforgettable memories of your whale watching adventure in Bahía Málaga.
