Tour To Commune 20

The tour commences at 09 AM at the specified meeting location.

Our initial stop is the MioCable station, where the cable car will transport us to Comuna 20. The story of this transport system is closely linked to the ambition of offering development opportunities to a historically marginalized community. Since its establishment, the MioCable has stood as more than just a transport method; it has become a beacon of progress and empowerment for the community's residents and its vicinity.

From the cable car, we'll capture exclusive panoramic views of the commune and the city, allowing us to admire the urban development and the scenic beauty of Cali from above.

Once we reach the Commune, a brief introduction to the area and its heritage will be provided. Comuna 20 encompasses 11 neighborhoods, notably the famous Siloé, which has faced significant challenges, such as periods of violence, socioeconomic issues, and conflicts related to drug trafficking and illegal armed group activities.

Despite the scars from those difficult times, the residents of Siloé have come together with collective effort, social initiatives, and determination to transform the neighborhood's image and establish a safer and more prosperous environment.

We'll venture into the heart of Siloé to hear from our local guide about some of the residents' stories. We'll visit the "Yo Amo A Siloe" Viewpoint, an observation spot where you will be awed by the most stunning panoramic views of the commune. There will be an opportunity to capture selfies with breathtaking cityscapes.

Our journey continues to The Ruins of Silowood, a site preserving tales from the area's industrial history. These ruins, once part of the film industry, now serve as a historical and cultural testament to the transformation and identity of Siloé through the years.

We'll take a brief pause to enjoy a snack prepared by local businesses, savoring flavors that have endured in the commune and will delight our taste buds. Empanadas and Cholao will be the highlights of this break.

The 3 km journey concludes with a visit to the Star of Siloé, an iconic structure representing the hope and resilience of the community. You'll understand its significance and importance to the people of Siloé.

We'll return to the meeting point, having experienced a connection with the strength and spirit of this Cali community.
