This tour is crafted to provide you with the ultimate Villa de Leyva experience in just one day.
The itinerary is split into two parts: a morning filled with exhilarating adventure activities and an evening rich in history and culture in this enchanting colonial town.
- Morning: Adventure and Adrenaline
We will meet at the designated location at 9 AM, and from there, we'll make our way to Magiaventura Adventure Park, situated a mere 30 minutes from Villa de Leyva's urban area. At this park, you'll engage in thrilling activities that will challenge your nerves and offer breathtaking panoramic views. First up, you'll try the aerial bikes, soaring over 35 meters high. This 300-meter round trip takes you from one mountain to another, presenting stunning vistas of the natural landscape surrounding Villa de Leyva. Feel the excitement of being suspended in the air as you pedal and take in the magnificent scenery.
Next, you'll enjoy the seated canopy zip line. This exhilarating 300-meter ride at a 30-meter height will give you an adrenaline rush as you glide through the air, appreciating a unique view of the mountainous terrain and the beautiful surrounding landscape.
Following these action-packed adventures, we'll proceed to the blue wells, one of Villa de Leyva's most intriguing natural wonders. Here, you'll board an ATV, shared with another participant, to explore this breathtaking area. The ATV tour takes you along sandy trails and through stunning landscapes, offering the chance to admire the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the blue wells.
By the end of the morning, around 1 PM, we'll return to the urban center of Villa de Leyva, where you'll have free time for lunch, savor local cuisine, visit craft shops, or simply relax and soak in the charming atmosphere.
- Evening: History and Culture
At 7 PM, reconvene with the group at the starting point to embark on the night tour aboard a vibrant Chiva. This traditional Colombian transport will take us on a historical and cultural exploration through the cobblestone streets and iconic sites of Villa de Leyva.
Our panoramic tour commences with a pass by the Antonio Nariño Museum and Park, where you can learn about the life and legacy of one of Colombia's independence heroes from the comfort of the chiva.
We'll continue to the Royal Liquor Factory, a historic site where our guide will explain the traditional liquor production process and its significance to the local economy.
Our journey continues past the San Agustín Cloister, a striking colonial edifice currently home to art exhibitions and cultural events. Your guide will share insights into the colonial architecture and the various artistic displays as we admire the cloister from the chiva. The tour then proceeds to the Mesopotamia Mill, a restored old water mill offering a fascinating look at the technology and life during the colonial era.
Lastly, we'll visit the Convent of the Discalced Carmelites, a serene place reflecting Villa de Leyva's rich religious heritage. We'll observe this still-functioning convent from the chiva while the guide discusses monastic life and religious architecture.
To conclude the evening, we'll head to the semi-desert region of the Villa de Leyva viewpoint. Here, you'll be greeted with a delicious hot cocktail known as “Canelazo” and can enjoy a cozy bonfire beneath the starry sky. We'll roast marshmallows, enjoy music and dancing, and if the weather permits, partake in a wonderful astronomical observation, appreciating the clear night sky.
We'll wrap up this magical experience by returning to the urban center of Villa de Leyva around 10 PM.
