Start your day immersed in history, art, and culture with a pick-up from your accommodation in Bogotá. Our driver-guide will be ready to greet you from 7 AM onwards.
We'll depart the vibrant capital of Colombia and embark on a scenic 3-hour drive to the department of Boyacá, where tales of history await as you soak in the stunning Colombian landscapes. Our journey's first stop is the historic Boyacá Bridge, where we will enjoy breakfast and reflect on the pivotal moment that shaped Colombia's future: the decisive battle for independence.
Re-energized, our next destination is Villa de Leyva, a colonial gem recognized as a national monument in 1954. Here, a knowledgeable local guide will lead us through the cobbled streets and historical sites. Additionally, you will have the chance to visit the Paleontological Research Center Museum (CIP Museum), unveiling the region's captivating paleontological discoveries.
Following the guided exploration, enjoy some free time to wander the stone-paved corners of Villa de Leyva, visit the church, savor a meal, and admire the town's timeless historical architecture.
At around 3 PM, we proceed to Ráquira, celebrated as the artisan capital of Colombia. Its vibrant streets and decorative house facades will enchant you as we delve into its colonial heart. During our visit, you can tour artisan workshops, appreciate their distinctive creations, and perhaps take home a little piece of Ráquira's allure.
As the day draws to a close with the sunset as your backdrop, we will journey back to Bogotá, filled with unforgettable memories and the fulfillment of a day rich in cultural exploration and discovery in the picturesque towns of Villa de Leyva and Ráquira. Expect to arrive back in Bogotá between 9 and 10 PM.
