Descripción del Tour:
Situated merely two hours away from Bogotá, Sumapaz National Park safeguards one of the continent's most astonishing and distinctive ecosystems: the Andean páramos.
Our adventure begins between 6:30 and 7 AM with a convenient pick-up at your accommodation. We will make our way directly to the Sumapaz region. This journey takes us to elevated heights, reaching approximately 3500 to 4000 meters above sea level.
Our morning will commence by meeting the guide in the Usme area, where we will receive essential instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience of the moorland landscape.
The trekking adventure kicks off around 10 AM. We will traverse the authorized trails within the Sumapaz National Natural Park, which spans around 178,000 hectares ripe for exploration and contemplation. The park ranks among the high-altitude sites richest in Colombian flora species, many of which are endemic.
Our journey covers 12 to 14 km of trails, where we will encounter numerous glacial lagoons. These include Boca Grande lagoon, Chisacá lagoon, Laguna Larga, Laguna La Guitarra, Laguna El Cajón, and Laguna del Nevado.
Our guide will share insights into the indigenous traditions that once thrived in the area before colonization, and you will gain understanding of the environmental challenges this region faces due to mining and resource overexploitation. You will comprehend the critical importance of preserving the moors for regional and environmental stability.
After several hours of marveling at the water wells, the muddy paths, the misty landscapes, and the remarkable flora, we will savor a delightful lunch amidst what is “the region's most vital water source.”
As evening approaches, we will make our way back to Bogotá, concluding the activity with a return to your accommodation around 6 PM.
