Our adventure begins bright and early at 6:10 AM, gathering at the Estadio Metro Station, a key landmark in the city that ensures easy access for those staying in the Laureles area.
Next, we proceed to Parque del Poblado, a lively and iconic spot in the center of Medellín. Here, we will meet at 7:00 AM with the other travelers residing in nearby areas.
At approximately 7:30 AM, we embark on our journey to Guatapé, a charming town celebrated for its vibrant colors and colonial allure. During the drive, our guide will provide insightful information about the region's history and culture, setting the stage for the experiences ahead.
We will take a brief pause at Alto del Chocho, where you can relish spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountainous landscapes. This stop offers a great chance to capture photos and stretch your legs before we continue on our way.
By 9:30 AM, we reach our first official stop, the replica of the Old Peñol, a monument honoring the old town submerged beneath the dam's waters. Here, you'll delve into the area's history and culture while enjoying breathtaking views from above.
Our journey continues with a unique perspective of the Guatapé Dam from a boat. This boat ride provides a different viewpoint on the region's natural beauty, as we sail for about 40 minutes, learning about the dam's significance to the locals.
At noon, we arrive at one of the tour's most iconic sites, the majestic Piedra del Peñol. Although the climb to the top isn't included in the tour, you'll have time to admire this natural marvel from the base and take stunning photographs. If you wish, you can climb the 702 steps to the summit (the ticket for the ascent is purchased directly at the site).
In the vicinity of the rock, we'll savor a delicious traditional lunch, offering you the chance to taste authentic Colombian cuisine. This will be an opportunity to relax and recharge for the next segment of our adventure.
Post-lunch, we will explore the charming towns of Nuevo Peñol and Guatapé, strolling through their picturesque streets and admiring the renowned facades adorned with colorful plinths. These towns are celebrated for their vibrant architecture and inviting atmosphere, transporting you to another era.
Our day concludes by exploring the Malecón and the artisan shops of Guatapé, where you can purchase unique souvenirs and admire the craftsmanship of local artisans. This is the ideal moment to enjoy a coffee and immerse yourself in the region's culture and creativity before we head back.
We bid farewell to these beautiful locales, returning to Medellin along the same route. The activity will wrap up around 6:00 PM with a drop-off at the original meeting point.
