Tour Description
The tour kicks off when our knowledgeable local guide meets you at your hotel. This experience is entirely on foot, so the hotel pick-up will be on foot and is exclusively available for guests staying in the downtown area of the city. If your accommodation is elsewhere, you have the option to meet us at the designated meeting point: Torre del Reloj. You can choose a start time for our activity between 09:00 AM and 02:00 PM, whichever suits you best.
Our journey will take us to Getsemani, one of Cartagena's most lively and sought-after neighborhoods. The area is abundant in graffiti, paintings, and murals that showcase the creativity and cultural diversity of the local community. We will explore Calle del Arsenal, a key street where the artwork of the urban artist collective "Crew Peligrosos" is prominently featured. A highlight on this street is the "Peace Mural", which commemorates Colombia's peace process and emphasizes the importance of reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
Next, we'll head to Plaza de la Trinidad, an iconic square at the heart of the neighborhood. Here, we'll view the "Red Shoes Mural", crafted by Spanish artist Mónica Martínez, which depicts the history of slavery in the region.
On the half of Media Luna, you'll find another notable attraction in Getsemaní, the "Mural of Freedom", created by local artist David Chávez. This mural symbolizes the fight for freedom and social justice and includes images of both renowned and anonymous revolutionary figures who have played pivotal roles in Colombia's libertarian history.
Our tour will continue towards the walled city, where near the Puerta del Reloj, we will encounter the "Mural of Reconciliation", painted by Cartagena artist Carlos Trilleras.
On Calle de la Sierpe, another significant street within the walled city, lies the "Mural of Memory", created by Cartagena artist Freddy Rodríguez. This mural portrays the regional history and its struggle for freedom.
Featuring images of palenqueras, local flora, and fauna, we will make our way back to the starting point, passing through Parque de las Flores, where you'll have the opportunity to admire more urban art and enjoy a sweeping view of the city.
After a two-hour journey, we conclude the tour at the Clock Tower or Parque de las Flores.
