Tour Description

The adventure kicks off bright and early at 5:30 AM with hotel pick-ups from the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga. The three-hour journey to the Santurbán Páramo offers a scenic mountainous landscape teeming with life. During this trip, we'll make a stop for a traditional breakfast that will energize you for the day ahead.
Upon reaching the páramo, you'll discover one of Colombia's most vital ecosystems. Sitting at an elevation surpassing 3,000 meters, the Santurbán Páramo is a remarkable "water factory" sustaining millions due to its 26 lagoons that provide water resources to feed rivers and towns across two provinces.
We will embark on a 40-minute hike to Laguna Negra, taking you through trails lined with frailejones, the iconic plants of the moors that can live up to 300 years. Throughout the hike, your guide will share insights about the 457 plant species and 293 animal species inhabiting the area, including the spectacled bear and the golden eagle.
Laguna Negra, a pristine body of water encircled by majestic mountains, stands out as one of the most stunning locations in the moor, cherished for its beauty and its crucial role in water cycle regulation.
After exploring the lagoon, we'll pause at the Piedra Parada Refuge, a cozy spot where you can unwind and soak in the scenery. Here, you'll enjoy a traditional Santander lunch, featuring options like fresh trout or meats, offering a delectable taste of local cuisine.
Our journey then continues to the charming Pueblito de Berlín in the Tona municipality. Known for its chilly climate and páramo landscapes, this village boasts a rich history of agriculture and livestock.
Before heading back to Bucaramanga, we'll visit the Berlin Dam waterfall on the Jordan River, a serene natural haven where you can relax and breathe in the fresh mountain air. This enriching experience will wrap up around 4:00 PM.
