Tour Description
The excursion begins when the guide picks you up at your accommodation within Bogota. As it is a full-day activity, the start time must be in the morning, between 07 and 10 AM, you choose the time that is most comfortable for you in that period.
We will leave Bogotá heading north, you will enjoy a comfortable and safe trip in our private transportation. After approximately an hour of travel, we will arrive at thefirst stop: The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá.
With more than 60 years of history, the underground cathedral was built inside the salt mines of Zipaquirá to honor the devotion of the workers and miners who implored protection before their work day. The cathedral is completely carved in salt and is considered the number one wonder of Colombia. You will be able to explore the tunnels and corridors that, located 200 meters underground, house a rich artistic collection: salt and marble sculptures surrounded by an ambiance of deep religious meaning.
After the shocking seen underground, we will go to the town, we will tour the main streets of Zipaquirá to learn about its historical value and its connection with ecotourism and geological sciences.
Once the Lunch time, we will enter the peculiar ecosystem of the Guatavita Natural Park, where you can breathe fresh air and discover the most famous of the sacred lagoons of the pre-Columbian culture: La Laguna de Guatavita.
The lagoon is located at 3100 meters above sea level and its perfectly circular shape, surrounded by native encenillo forests, covers a diameter of approximately 700 m. You will know some of the secrets and mysteries of this sacred place, while you connect with a natural environment covered in fog, silence and virgin forests.
From Guatavita we will return to Bogotá, the adventure ends with the return to your place of accommodation.
